Embracing our heritage of thought leadership, we seek to bring investment practitioners together to explore and debate ideas at the frontier of investment management thinking.
Who we are: Q Group was founded in 1966 and comprises a diverse membership of financial professionals from sponsor organizations across North America. Q Group conducts seminars twice a year, funds research projects of interest to the members, and distributes research papers and summaries of its seminars, as well as those of its sister organizations (Inquire Europe and Inquire UK), to its sponsors.
The purpose of The Q Group is to help the investment community create and implement innovative solutions to financial and investment problems. The Q Group® endeavors to contribute to the development and understanding of new techniques to improve the operation of the global financial marketplace.
More About Us
In the Spring and Autumn of each year, Sponsors of The Q Group® attend and participate in seminars in various locations in the United States. These seminars present new, effective investment techniques being developed by academicians and practitioners. The conferences offer the delegates an opportunity to interact and discuss each presentation with known experts in the field. Many attendees are themselves authorities in the field and are encouraged to present their own research studies at these programs. Seminars are topical and usually revolve around one or more central themes.
More About Our Seminars
Qualified firms that are interested in becoming sponsor members should request an information packet from the Membership Director. This packet includes an application which, upon submission, is forwarded to the Membership Committee for review. When Sponsor seats become available, the Committee screens applications for membership and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors. The Board then reviews the Membership Committee actions and submits a list of candidates to be voted on by the Sponsors at the next business meeting of The Q Group.

The Q Group has funded over 300 research projects. Topics are chosen for relevance to finance and investments and have concentrated on bridging the gap between theory and practice. The philosophy of the Research Committee is to fund projects offering unique approaches and insights into problems of significance to investment professionals. Research projects encompass studies in financial economics, applied securities analysis, and the use of quantitative methods in financial management. All research results are made available to the Sponsors of The Q Group and, in many cases, are published in professional journals.
